Pr. Crippen announces resignation
Pr. Joseph Crippen has received a call to be pastor of Mount Olive Lutheran Church in Minneapolis, and has decided to accept that call, which means he is resigning as Senior Pastor of St. John’s. On Monday, Aug. 9, he sent a letter of resignation to the Congregation Council, and on Tuesday, Aug. 10, a letter was sent to the whole congregation. A copy of that congregational letter is here. Council President Tim Eklund has been in contact with the Southeastern Minnesota Synod office and Bishop Usgaard, and the council will be in further conversation about the next steps for the congregation. President Eklund also wrote a letter to the congregation and enclosed it with Pr. Crippen’s letter Aug. 10, and that letter is also posted online at this link. As more information is available, and as the process continues, further updates on the website will also be posted. Prayers for Pr. Crippen and his family and for the staff and people of St. John’s during this transition are asked of all.
Looking Ahead, September 2010:
Sunday, September 12: Pastor Crippen’s last day at St. John’s. A reception of farewell and thanks will be from 12:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. with a short program beginning between 12:30 p.m. and 12:45 p.m.
Sunday September 12: CAT Orientation is at 9:45 a.m. Students and their parents in grades 3-6 should plan to attend.
Wednesday, September 15: Wednesday programming kicks off! Afterschool busing, children and youth programming and Wednesday night meal begins…come and share a meal! Preschool 1 open house begins at 6:30.
Sunday, September 19: WelcomeFest! Come and enjoy a Church Picnic of hot dogs, burgers and all the fixings. This is a great time for fellowship and fun for ALL ages! Invite a friend and come and enjoy the different booths and tables, as well as a bouncy tent and fun games, that will be set up in the church parking lot for you to see all of the different ministries of the church.
Sunday, September 26: New member luncheon, with staff, at noon. If you are interested in joining St. John’s, please contact the Church Office. The staff would love to meet you and answer any questions you might have!
