Summer Trips
Summer is the time when our youth get the chance to leave home for awhile and experience God in a new and different way. Below is a list of the trips that we’re going on this year. Please pray for our youth that are travelling this summer, and pray that these experiences may change their lives forever.
Green Lake
In June, our youth will travel to Green Lake Bible Camp in Spicer, MN for a week of games, campfires, crafts, worship, Bible studies, canteen time and swimming!
Christikon
Christikon is in the Rockies just north of Yellowstone Park near McLeod, Montana. Our youth will discover the delights of living at the top of the world. We’ll hike, stay in tents and carry our gear in a backpack.
Youth Works
The Rosebud Sioux reservation of South Dakota borders the Pine Ridge reservation. We’ll learn about the culture and history of this native people, help lead a children’s ministry program and participate in service projects.
Mission Minneapolis
Mission Minneapolis is a weekend Mission Trip for our middle school youth. We’ll be heading up to Minneapolis to team up with our brothers and sisters at El Milagro Lutheran Church. We’ll do service projects, sing, play, and worship together while at the same time build bonds between our churches!
Lunch with Sherm
On June 15, at noon, Sherm is buying you lunch! Join Sherm at Hogan Brothers to eat some lunch, chit chat, and hang out for a bit. All youth are invited!
Magical Mystery Tours
Summer time is almost upon us folks, and that means its time for the Magical Mystery Tours (MMT’s) to begin again! Our first MMT is taking place on June 11, and the second one will take place on July 9. Here are some things to know about the MMT’s:
Magical Mystery Tours are for 6th – 8th Graders.
A few weeks before each event, parents will receive a letter, along with a permission slip. In the letter, we will disclose the mystery to you, and also give you the trip details, cost, timeline, etc.
Last year, we went to Cosmic Bowling, Feed my Starving Children in Eagan, and to Valley Fair.
I can’t tell you what we’re doing this year (it’s a mystery!), but I can tell you that they will be lots and lots of fun. Feel free to invite a friend!
Parent Forum Follow-up Meeting
There will be a follow up meeting to the Parent Forum on Sunday, June 6, at 9:30am. The Youth Board and Sherm will present a follow-up plan in response to the Parent Forum. We’ll present a Youth mission statement, a communications plan, and discuss Sunday School and Confirmation. All parents of 6th -12th graders are invited to attend.
7th Grade Entrance Interviews
Over the summer, we want to meet with the upcoming 7th Graders and their families. We’ll talk about Confirmation Class and other programs for next year, but mostly we want to hear what you’re hoping to get out of Confirmation. We also want to share what we’re hoping that you’ll get out of Confirmation.
Sunday School Teachers
We are in need of Teachers for both Middle School and High School Sunday School. If you teach Middle School Sunday School, you would teach one or two lessons, based on your interests and passions. If you teach High School Sunday School, you’d teach about once a month, and follow a curriculum. Contact Mike Sherman if you’re interested.
